Quick fix

Can I Use the Same Password Everywhere?

You can, until one breached site exposes every other account that shares it. Unique passwords keep one leak from becoming five.

  1. Get a reputable password manager and let it generate and store a unique password for each account.
  2. Start with the accounts that matter most: email, banking, and your Microsoft, Apple, or Google account.
  3. Turn on two-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
  4. Check the address bar before you sign in. Look-alike sites with slightly misspelled addresses are a common trick.
  5. Check whether your email appears in known breaches at haveibeenpwned.com.

Do not wait

If you entered your password after clicking a suspicious link, change it now from a different device and ask David.
